West Java
West Java (Indonesian: :Jawa Barat) is a province of Indonesia, located on Java Island. Its capital city is Bandung.
According to the 2005 Socio-Economic Survey, West Java's population is 39,960,869, making it the most populous province in Indonesia. It has an area of 34,736 km²; aside from the province of Jakarta, it is the most densely populated province in the country with an average of 1,150 people per km².
West Java borders Jakarta and Banten province to the west, and Central Java to the east. To the north is Java Sea. To the south is the Indian Ocean. Unlike most other provinces in Indonesia which have their capitals in coastal area, the provincial capital Bandung is located in a mountainous area.
In addition to Indonesian, the official national language, the other widely-spoken language in the province is Sundanese. In some areas near the southern borders with Central Java, Javanese is also spoken. The ethnic language spoken in Cirebon and nearby areas (Majalengka, Indramayu, Sumber) is Cirebonese which is a mix between Sundanese and Javanese. Indonesian is widely spoken as a second language, except in some remote rural areas.

Pantai Indah Pangandaran, it is one of coastal tourist object in West Java. This coast located in Desa Pananjung, District of Pangandaran with distance ± 92 kms southward town Ciamis. Pantai Pelabuhan Ratu located of lk. 60 kms southward from town Sukabumi, is a place of wisata in West Java south coastal area, in Samudra Hindia. The wave is famously strong and in consequence can be dangerous. This coast is famous because consisted of solidarity between steep coasts and gradient, precipitous rock stones, breaker, and preserve forest.
This place has fascination itself, so that President Soekarno builds his resort in the year 1960 in Tanjo Resmi. Besides, based on his own inisiative, he is also build Samudera Beach Hotel, one of first luxuriant hotel built in Indonesia at the same range of time with Hotel Indonesia, Bali Beach Hotel, and Department store " Sarinah", which are all funded by using of back pay fund from Japan.
Gunung Tangkuban Parahu or Gunung Tangkuban Perahu is one of mount in provinsi West Java, Indonesia. Around 20 kms northwards Kota Bandung, leafyly pine tree and extent of tea garden in vinicity, mount Tangkuban Parahu has height as high as 2084 metre. Form of this mount is Maar or shield which has erupted 400 years ago. Rock type released through eruption mostly are lava and sulphur, mineral which is released by this mountain is brimstone sulphur, mineral released when inactive mount is brimstone vapour. Mount Area Tangkuban Perahu managed by Perum Perhutanan. Its daily mean temperature is 17oC in the day time and 2 oC at night. The origin name of Mount Tangkuban Parahu is related to the legend story of Sangkuriang, what told to falls in love with his mother, Dayang Sumbi. To discomfit intention of her chlid marrying with, Dayang Sumbi submits condition to Sangkuriang to make boat in duration of one night. When he realize that he was failed, Sangkuriang got angry and kicks the boat, causing lands in a state of overturn. This boat then forms Gunung Tangkuban Parahu.
This Tangkuban Parahu Mountain is included as one of active volcano which is always observed by Direktorat Vulkanologi Indonesia. Some its cauldrons still showing livelines sign of this mountain. Some of this indication are brimstone gas appearance and source of hot water in its hillside located in Ciater, Subang.
The existence of this mountain and topography of Bandung which in the form of hollow with hill and mount in every its side strengthening the existence theory of a big lake ( cauldron) which is now known as Bandung area. Believed by the geology experts that plateau area Bandung with height of approximately 709 m to sea level is rest of from eruption of ancient volcano known as Gunung Sunda and Gunung Tangkuban Parahu is rest of ancient Gunung Sunda of which still active. Phenomenon can be noticed at Gunung Krakatau in Sunda Strait and area Ngorongoro in Tanzania, African. So the legend of Sangkuriang which is the area public story believed is a documentation to event of at that moment.
